Cinemas around Leicester

Showcase Cinema de Lux Leicester

Showcase Cinema de Lux Leicester, 7 Highcross Lane, Leicester LE1 4SD, UK – 0871 220 1000

Great screens, and an overall enjoyable movie going experience. Sound is great in the rooms, seats are comfortable. Decently priced tickets, but I guess the money is made up for with parking and food. Popcorn could use some work, but other than that, I'd highly recommend it. Also THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE IN LEICESTER WITH PROPERLY MASKED SCREENS.

We love it here, we will drive for more than an hour to use the Directors Lounge screen. The ticket is a little extra but you get a free drink and popcorn with the ticket. You can order alcoholic beverages, desserts and bar food. The theatre is a comfortable temperature and the seats are comfortable with plenty of leg room and table that rotate in front of you to make it easy to eat and put your drink down. The toilets are clean and we'll looked after.

Piccadilly Cinema

2 Green Ln Rd, Leicester LE5 3TH, UK – 0116 251 8880

Very nice five screen cinema. Its safe, clean and nice for family. Many choices of English, Hindi, Punjabi, Pakistani and South Indian films shows around the clock from 12:00 to 09:00 pm Lots of choices of all films at very cheap price. On Wednesday two tickets just for £7:00.

Staff were good tickets were cheap. The only thing that annoyed me was the film was shown in the wrong screen format which was 2:35:1 instead of a 1:85:1 screen format. film was good.

Odeon Cinema Leicester Freemans Park

Freemens Park, 90 Aylestone Rd, Leicester LE2 7LB, UK – 0333 014 4501

Very helpful and friendly staff. I just wish the lights were off during the movies and the snacks weren't a bit too pricey. I highly recommend this place!

I went to this cinema for the first time in a couple of years. I wasn't sure of the new system they had set up for parking. There was a wonderful lad named Thomas, he helped me so much. Explained everything to me. He was great.

Theatres for Leicester

Phoenix Cinema and Art Centre

4 Midland St, Leicester LE1 1TG, UK – 0116 242 2800

This is a cinema with a difference. The cafe and art interests with which the venue is identified has made it a cool hang out place for people with diverse interests. The restaurant has grown by leaps and bounds. Yesterday, I tucked into a spicy Thai vegetarian dish which at £6 for a bowl full was enough to satiate my hunger. Fresh vegetables were served with wholegrain rice. In fact I liked it so much I went back today. They were out of rice but I was happy to try out couscous in place of the rice. I have not had couscous before to my mind and it was a good change from rice. I would say I am a little biased in favour of Phoenix. I have been a frequent visitor over the years. I would recommend it to anyone to try out the many things on offer.

This is a small cinema complex (although I recently heard there is an expansion plan afoot) so it has a cosy and intimate feel. It has a well stocked bar as well as a café/restaurant - both are located on the ground floor as are the two screens so it is disabled accessible with automatic opening doors at the entrance. There is a disabled toilet. There is a lift to the first floor where exhibitions and live events take place sometimes. I have been coming here for a few years and am frequently delighted to find them showing something long gone from the mainstream. For the past three years they've also ran a "Mystery Film" event once a month when, for £4 a ticket (used to be £3), a film which is kept a mystery up to the actual screening is shown . This event has proved so popular it quickly sells out and I have not yet been disappointed by what has been shown: Japanese anime films, French language films, black & white classics or obscure/neglected films from 15-30 years ago!

Curve Theatre

60 Rutland St, Leicester LE1 1SB, UK – 0116 242 3560

Went to see the Scrooge. Unforgettable experience. Great family day out. Breathtaking spectacle and amazing work of so many talented people. Would definitely do it again and recommend to anyone!!

Great theatre brilliant production of SCROOGE it was beyond my expectations. The drinks are very expensive which is a shame as it meant I only bought 1. Could you also place signs on the back of chairs asking parents to kindly keep their children under control and stop them kicking the seat in front of them or shoving their feet into the seat constantly during a performance as this is our only complaint about our visit that the parent on the row behind myself and my mum didn't feel the need to tell her kids to stop doing these things to our seats. A polite notice on backs of seats and on the doors entering the theatre might make someone think ! 🤔

The Little Theatre

Dover St, Leicester LE1 6PW, UK – 0116 255 1302

Excellent venue true to its name. A 'little' theatre run by enthusiastic volunteers. Very 'professional' in their approach. Handy parking in adjacent private car park. Close to several watering holes and eateries.

Great little theatre (see what I did there?), especially for the annual Panto. Good seats and excellent sets.
